Install won't complete, and I can't uninstall either!

Dear TeamSystemSolutions folks:

I'm on a fresh Windows Server 2003 install with Office 2010, VS 2010, and Outlook 2010. There are no pending updates.

The initial attempt ended with "Installation Incomplete" and a message saying:

"The installer was interrupted before TeamLook 3.0.0.105 could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again."

Rebooting and rerunning the installer gets me the "repair or remove" option, but I get the same error regardless of which option I pick.

Visiting Add/Remove Programs and trying to get rid of it that way via Remote gets me "Fatal error during installation" and no progress.

Using the "Click here for support information" link and attempting to Repair there also errors out saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try ag ain, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'R-OL10TFC10.msi' in the box below."

The "default" path in that box is C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\RarSFX0\ which doesn't exist (Temp has no child RarSFX0).

Please advise. I find it disconcerting that the tool is stuck in an unusable yet unremovable state, especially when I had such high hopes for it (our dev manager is crazy about it, so I really want to try it for myself -- but, obviously, I'm less enthused at this point).

TeamLook and DRM Email

When I right-click on a DRM'd email to do a context menu operation, such as Mark as Read or Move, TeamLook is throwing an unhandled exception since it can't copy information from DRM'd email that has copy blocked. TeamLook should handle this exception and simply disable TeamLook options on the context menu.

I install TeamLook with no error but when i open Outlook, my PC seems to freeze and finally an error is throw :

Test Case 'Open for Edit' button no-op

I have VSTS 2010 64bit Ultimate (includes MS Test Manager) installed, fully functional, and completely integrated with TFS. I have been able to prove all MS TFS functions, including creating new projects of various templates, and etc.

I then installed TeamLook.

Everything appears to function except the TeamLook > Test Case > 'Open for Edit' button. Clicking on this button does nothing (whether or not MS Test Manager is running). I expect it to open the test in Test Mananger, ready for editing. It does not matter if the test has been edited already or not.

Clicking on the same button within TFS Team Explorer (on the exact work item) spawns an instance of Test Manager (if it is not already running) and opens the test for editing.

I cannot determine if this is an installation issue, or a function issue (buggy or not present). Please advise...

TeamSpec panel missing with Office2010

Hi,

I have a development environment configured as:

Windows 2008 Server (x64) with VS 2010 Ultimate and Office 2010 (x86) connected to TFS 2010
Windows 2008 Server (x64) with VS 2010 Ultimate and Office 2007 (x86) connected to TFS 2010

The TeamSpec v2.7.325 works well with option 2, but does not display TeamSpec panel with option 1. Although the add-in is installed and "Active".

Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office runtime [vstor] (x86) cannot be installed in option 1.

Please help with any of the following:

getting the TeamSpec panel to appear in option 1 environment
getting a fix to this "known issue" with vstor x64

I have installed the Teamspec Word Add-In on a Windows 2008 Server SP2 32 bit and have used the TFS integration under the administrators account successfully (TeamSpecInstaller2.7.205.exe)

When i use an other user to logon to the server, the Word Add-In is not visible.

We use Windows Server with remote access for distributed software development from different locations and need this feature. How to activate the Add-In for all users on a server?

TeamSpec add-in for Word 2010 RC1

After installing TeamSpec on my PC I am not able to use the add-in within Work 2010 RC1. The add-in is listed as Inactive. When I try and activate the add-in (Load behavior is only allowing: On Startup) I get "Not loaded. A runtime error occured during the loading of the COM Add-in". I have not been able to correlate an event log entry to get the runtime error code. Any ideas?

Team Spec Can't display HTML in Word

We recently bought TeamSpec and it works great until we import an HTML field into Word. All the html shows in word as raw html. This makes TeamSpec completely unusable for us since all our description fields are HTML fields. Is there a way for TeamSpec to show HTML from TFS properly in Word?

In my case it will be useful following the template to requirements:

Title for workitem1. The description for workitem1.
Title for workitem2. The description for workitem2.

Because the title for woritems is simple and can consist of one sentence and limited to a point or Shift+Enter (I do not know what it is the symbol:)). Probably use this the template:

Title for workitem1.
The description for workitem1.
Title for workitem2.
The description for workitem2.

For the new requirement from ms word this works. But create the new requirement by the template I could not.

The email address on your Contact page (sales@teamsystemsolutions.com) bounces due to what I assume is a configuration issue (host mail-in07.adhost.com does not allow Relay).

Also, your switchboard states you are not in the office (I am 12 hours off your time zone) but apparently I have to guess an extention if I am to leave a message.

Product Stability Issues

I wonder is it just me or it happens as a result of a faulty installation, but I observe frequent crashes of TeamSpec when either:

The active document is a .docx one but maintains backwards compatibility with MS Word 2003. In this case, TeamSpec functionality is enabled, but does not work properly and produces a lot of error reports.
In some cases, when you open a .doc file in MS Word and then try to close MS Word, TeamSpec produces an endless stream or error reports saying something along the lines of "get_ActiveDocument command failed". Looks like the code does not always check if at least one document is open... but even then it's strange that the error is not reported only once - instead, one gets modal dialog windows one after another and the only way to close the MS Word application is via killing the winword.exe process :(

Is it a kind of known issue with TeamSpec? If so, will there be a patch?

Hi,

I'm looking for a requirements managment tool for my team, and I have to say I've been really impressed by TeamSpec. So far it seems like it's right tool for us.

I have one question which I couldn't find the answer to in your features list - Is it possible to define a word or a phrase, which will be searched by TeamSpec in a Word document, and if any sentence with that word word/phrase was found, TeamSpec will automatically create a work item for that sentence?

If not, is it planned for future versions?

Linking text to a HTML field type in TFS

Hi All,

I'm in the process of evaluating Teamspec to assist my company with requirement management . From what we can see TeamSpec does a very good job of linking information between word and TFS as well as pushing information back and forth. The one issue I'm having is saving the formatting in Word when linking a section of text to content control and subsequently a TFS workitem.

When I did this initally the formating (i.e. bulletpointing, numbering, etc... ) was not moved to TFS and it was corrupted in my word document. Dealing with TFS for a while I understand while the formating is not moved to TFS and I did'nt expect it too. But is there anything I can do about it not changing the information in word. I attempted to create a new field that was an HTML type , when I linked text to that it totatally removed the formated text from the word document and did not transfer it to TFS.

Can someone give me some insight as to why this is happening and what I can do to workaround it?

Trial version Work Item, Queries is not working.

Hello,

I am evaluating the TeamSpec and it seems great, however, the Work Item Queries, does not seems to be working. Is it in purpose? Or I missed something during the installation.

When I click on the work item queries button it lunches the dialog box with a list of team Queries on the left hand side, and when I click on any of the queries, it displays the query but not the result.

Any thought on why it behaves like that?
